Super Bowl 2025 live score: Chiefs vs. Eagles updates, results, highlights from New Orleans

History is within the Kansas City Chiefs‘ sights in Super Bowl 59. Can the Philadelphia Eagles do what they couldn’t two years ago and keep the Lombardi Trophy out of Patrick Mahomes’ hands this time?

Kansas City launched what would become a potential NFL three-peat quest with a thrilling win over the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 two years ago, and the team can finish off the first three-peat in Super Bowl history with another victory over Philadelphia in New Orleans. With the balance the Eagles have on their roster, that might be easier said than done.

Saquon Barkley remains the dynamic centerpiece of Philadelphia’s offense, but timely passes to weapons A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert have often been the difference for the Eagles on this run. Vic Fangio’s defense, meanwhile, has some breakout stars in Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell and more who could be X-factors after the unit struggled to contain the Chiefs two years ago. 

Kansas City’s offense uncharacteristically struggled for much of the regular season, relative to expectations, but the group coalesced in December and January. After the Bills had a tough time getting Mahomes off the field in the AFC championship game, an Eagles defense that thrives off turnovers might need some takeaways against a Chiefs offense that has just one turnover since mid-November.

For the Chiefs, the fourth Super Bowl of the Mahomes era is on the line. A win would catapult Mahomes into a tie with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw for the second-most Super Bowl wins by a quarterback.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are looking for a return to glory seven years after they captured their first title. While only a few players remain from that team, Philadelphia believes it has the talent to finally dethrone the Chiefs put another Lombardi Trophy on its shelf.

Eagles 34, Chiefs 6

9:25 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — A nice diving touchdown by Xavier Worthy puts the Chiefs on the board. The two-point conversion fails, but it’s something? That drive looked like the Mahomes we all saw two weeks ago,

9:23 p.m. — There’s a shot in the arm for the Chiefs: a 50-yard catch-and-run by Xavier Worthy. For the first time, Kansas City is in Eagles territory. 

9:22 p.m. — DeVonta Smith is the first Alabama player to ever score a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

Eagles 34, Chiefs 0

9:19 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Wow! The Eagles aren’t playing it conservatively yet. Hurts hits DeVonta Smith on a downfield bomb, and it’s 34-0 Eagles. They’re going to win the Super Bowl. 

9:15 p.m. — Mahomes’ fourth down pass is broken up, so the Eagles will be getting the ball back up by 27. The Chiefs cannot get anything going offensively. 

Eagles 27, Chiefs 0

9:08 p.m. FIELD GOAL — The Chiefs get a nice stop in the red zone, but Jake Elliott extends the Eagles’ lead to 27. The climb gets steeper for Kansas City.

9:01 p.m. — Barkley makes a nice grab on the ground after a bobble, and it’s 1st & Goal for the Eagles as they look to go up 24-0. 

9:00 p.m. — Kansas City has no answer for Hurts’ speed right now. He sprints ahead for another big gain and has the Eagles in field goal range.

8:59 p.m. — Barkley finally gets some running room and picks up a first down.

8:58 p.m. — The Chiefs get pressure on Hurts, but he picks it up immediately and runs up the middle for a big gain. Every first down for the Eagles at this point makes a Chiefs comeback even more difficult to envision. 

8:53 p.m. — A nifty Mahomes run is stopped short of the line to gain, and the Chiefs are punting down 24-0. 

8:52 p.m. — Josh Sweat sacks Mahomes again! This is a nightmare for the Chiefs’ offense, and Sweat is about to hit free agency at the perfect time. 

8:50 p.m. — The football is back. The Chiefs are looking to get something, anything, going down 24-0. 

8:40 p.m. — Lamar has left the stage, and yes, he did perform “Not Like Us.” 

8:28 p.m. — Kendrick Lamar has taken the stage in New Orleans. Follow along with updates here.

8:22 p.m. — Mahomes: 6-of-14, 33 yards, two interceptions. His passer rating is 10.7. Barkley has just 31 yards on 12 attempts, but it hasn’t mattered much yet. 

End of first half: Eagles 24, Chiefs 0

8:16 p.m. — The Eagles are playing it conservative here and will gladly take a 24-0 lead into halftime. Hard to blame them. Bring out Kendrick Lamar. 

8:14 p.m. — DeAndre Hopkins drops what should have been an easy first down grab from Mahomes. Instead, it’s 4th & 11 and the Chiefs will punt again shortly before halftime. 

8:13 p.m. — An offensive holding call erases a nice run by Mahomes. It’s been that kind of day for the Chiefs. 

Eagles 24, Chiefs 0

8:07 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — A.J. Brown is in for the touchdown! The Eagles are in full control up 24-0, and the Chiefs’ three-peat hopes already need a miracle. 

8:05 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Mahomes’ first pass is intercepted by Zack Baun! 1st & 10 in the end zone for the Eagles. Unbelievable. 

8:03 p.m. — The Chiefs are very fortunate to survive the penalty and force an Eagles punt. Can they do something with 1:49 and almost the entire field to go? They’ll get the ball out of halftime, too. 

7:58 p.m. — Mahomes is 5-of-10 for 24 yards and an interception so far.

7:56 p.m. — Wow, an unnecessary roughness penalty turns a 2nd & 26 into a fresh set of downs for the Eagles. That’s a back-breaker for Kansas City. 

7:50 p.m. — Mahomes is sacked for the third time this quarter. The Chiefs are punting, and Steve Spagnuolo’s defense effectively needs a stop here just to keep some hope on Kansas City’s side.

7:49 p.m. — Shades of Robert Alford on that pick-six with the way DeJean came across the field with the ball. The Chiefs are hoping the result is the same it was when Alford picked Tom Brady eight years ago.

Eagles 17, Chiefs 0

7:44 p.m. PICK-SIX — Now it’s trouble for Mahomes. The rookie Cooper DeJean picks it off and runs it all the way back to the end zone on his 22nd birthday, and the Eagles are in complete control right now up 17-0. 

7:43 p.m. — Mahomes is sacked AGAIN. The Eagles are all over the Chiefs right now. 

7:42 p.m. — Josh Sweat sacks Mahomes to start the drive!

7:41 p.m. — A Chiefs would would mean Mahomes overcame a double-digit deficit in all four of his Super Bowl wins. Of course, there is plenty of work to do to make that a reality. The Eagles will try to stay in control as their defense comes back out. 

Eagles 10, Chiefs 0

7:38 p.m. FIELD GOAL — After all that, Elliott’s kick is narrowly good. The Eagles have a two-possession lead over the Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.

7:36 p.m. — It looks like the Eagles were trying to draw the Chiefs offsides. Here comes Jake Elliott…but the field goal is moved five yards back due to a false start.

7:35 p.m. — Hurts is brought down before the line to gain on 3rd & 5. The offense is staying on the field. 

7:33 p.m. — Hurts hits A.J. Brown downfield for a first down and more! The Eagles are now back in deep field goal range. 

7:31 p.m. — Barkley has been limited to just 18 yards on nine carries. It sure feels like the Chiefs’ ability to slow him down has been the difference between a small Eagles lead and serious trouble for Kansas City. 

7:28 p.m. — Another third down, another disappointment for the Chiefs. Mahomes’ pass hits the ground instead of Kelce’s hands, and Kansas City will give the Eagles pretty solid field position to start the next drive.

7:27 p.m. — The Chiefs’ offense is facing another third down, but they only need three yards here to extend the drive.

7:23 p.m. INTERCEPTION — Hurts throws for it all and is PICKED OFF by Bryan Cook. That ball wasn’t anywhere close to an Eagle. The Chiefs start with brutal field position, but they will gladly take the stop. 

7:23 p.m. — 3rd & 10 coming up for the Eagles…they’re in distant field goal range.

End of first quarter: Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

7:19 p.m. — The first quarter ends with Hurts sliding down for a loss. The Chiefs are starting to get some pressure on him. 

7:18 p.m. — Now a defensive offside penalty against Charles Omenihu erases a major sack of Hurts. It doesn’t erase the hit, but Hurts seems to be fine. 

7:16 p.m. — Make it another first down for Philadelphia, which is now approaching field goal range. Jake Elliott’s range will be something to watch tonight, as he doinked a 57-yarder during warmups and has even had some extra point issues this season. 

7:15 p.m. — Back-to-back first downs for the Eagles, who are really getting Jahan Dotson involved early. 

7:10 p.m. — Mahomes had the chance to break free on 3rd & 3, but he throws incomplete and the Eagles get the Chiefs off the field again. It’s not unusual for Kansas City to start slow in the Super Bowl, but it’s putting pressure on the defense to keep the Eagles’ lead where it is now. 

Eagles 7, Chiefs 0

7:04 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — The Chiefs had success stopping the Bills’ tush push, but the Eagles present an entirely different challenge. Jalen Hurts is in, and the Eagles lead 7-0.

7:02 p.m. — Hurts finds Jahan Dotson downfield for 27 yards! It’s initially ruled an Eagles touchdown, but Dotson’s going to be ruled down at the one. 

7:00 p.m. — Barkley slips down on his latest run. The Eagles have struggled to get him going, and that there was just some bad luck. 

6:58 p.m. — Hurts’ third down pass sails high, but Trent McDuffie is called for unnecessary roughness for a hit on Goedert. He’s irate. The Eagles’ drive continues.

6:57 p.m. — Into Chiefs territory goes Dallas Goedert, who was wide open for Hurts. Let’s see if the Eagles can get something out of this drive.

6:53 p.m. — The Eagles’ pass-rush chase, chase and chases Patrick Mahomes, who avoids the sack but throws incomplete. The Chiefs will punt in what is a nice win for Philadelphia’s defense.

6:52 p.m. — It’ll be 3rd & 9 for the Chiefs after Travis Kelce can’t come up with a catch. 

6:50 p.m. — Kansas City picks up a quick first down on a catch by JuJu Smith-Schuster. 

6:48 p.m. — The Eagles punt it away after the call, which Tom Brady certainly doesn’t seem to agree with. Here comes Patrick Mahomes.

6:46 p.m. — Hurts finds A.J. Brown way downfield on 4th & 2…but it’s OFFENSIVE pass interference. The play is negated. 

6:45 p.m. — Hurts takes off and makes up nine of the 11 yards the Eagles needed. Will the offense stay on the field?

6:45 p.m. — Nick Bolton, a star of Super Bowl 57, comes up with a big tackle for loss on second down. It’s third-and-long for the Eagles.

6:43 p.m. — DeVonta Smith comes through with a first down catch to extend the Eagles’ drive.

6:43 p.m. — About four yards for Saquon Barkley on the opening carry. 

6:42 p.m. — Here we go! Super Bowl 59 is underway. 

6:37 p.m. — It’s tails. The Chiefs defer, and Jalen Hurts will start Super Bowl 59 with the ball in his hands. 

6:34 p.m. — The NFL is honoring the victims of the New Year’s Day terror attack before the coin toss. 

6:32 p.m. — Jon Batiste delivers the national anthem with a little three-peat: 

6:27 p.m. — Lauren Daigle and Trombone Shorty perform a very New Orleans rendition of “America the Beautiful.” 

6:19 p.m. — Bradley Cooper introduces the Eagles to a much more applause. 

6:16 p.m. — The Chiefs are being introduced to fairly heavy boos at Caesars Superdome. 

6:10 p.m. — Lady Gaga performed a ballad for the victims of the New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street.

5:55 p.m. — For awareness: kickoff will be closer to 6:40 p.m. ET than 6:30. 

5:47 p.m. — Ledisi is performing “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to get the on-field festivities started. Jaguars DL was just recognized for his Walter Payton Man of the Year Award win.

5:24 p.m. — The two-time defending champions are ready in New Orleans.

5:18 p.m. — Eagles kicker Jake Elliott missed a kick from 57 yards in pregame warmups:

5:17 p.m. — After a lengthy injury absence, Brandon Graham returns for the Eagles tonight. He was one of their heroes in Super Bowl LII.

4:07 p.m. — A fresh arrival fit for Travis Kelce:

3:50 p.m. — Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins is wearing his late father’s mink coat today. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported earlier today that Super Bowl Sunday is Hopkins’ first time ever wearing the coat.

2:51 p.m. — Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski on Super Bowl Sunday, just like old times. 

1:39 p.m. — Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, in his eighth year with the team, has struggled at times this season. He’s getting some early work in for Super Bowl 59.

1:28 p.m. — New Orleans is buzzing ahead of the big game:

1:22 p.m. — One of the many intertwining storylines in Super Bowl 59: Carson Wentz facing the Eagles. While he’s now the Chiefs’ backup quarterback, he was once an MVP candidate with Philadelphia. The trade that sent Wentz from the Eagles to the Colts a few years ago has helped Philadelphia build its current roster:

12:16 p.m. — The future of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is up in the air beyond tonight’s game. There seems to at least be a chance that Super Bowl 59 is the final time that Kelce suits up to play football. 

12:14 p.m. — Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Jon Hamm and Bradley Cooper will be doing the live intros for each squad coming out of the tunnel tonight. 

11:50 a.m. — Tom Brady, on the call today for Fox, chimes in on the result of Super Bowl 59 for Patrick Mahomes:

11:46 a.m. — A couple of Eagles reportedly made team speeches last night:

10:52 a.m. — Jalen Hurts, and plenty of other Eagles that were on the Super Bowl 57 roster, are looking for some revenge tonight.

10:47 a.m. — The morning scene in Caesars Superdome:

10:15 a.m. — This is Super Bowl matchup No. 2 between Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes. A notable stat on the quarterbacks:

10:12 a.m. — Whether the Eagles win or lose, Super Bowl 59 appears to be the final game for Kellen Moore with Philadelphia. The offensive coordinator is expected to soon become the Saints’ head coach:

10:09 a.m. — Today is quite the day for Saquon Barkley. The running back turns 28 years old today, needs 30 rushing yards to break Terrell Davis’ single-season rushing record (including the postseason), and can trigger more contract incentives with a Super Bowl title.

10:07 a.m. — Welcome to Super Bowl Sunday. The NFL’s 2025 playoff bracket will be complete tonight.

Super Bowl 59 between the Chiefs and Eagles is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. local time) from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. 

6:30 p.m. ET has become the standard start time for Super Bowls and is preceded by performances of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” “America the Beautiful,” and “The Star-Spangled Banner.” 

Before the ceremonies begin, Fox will air more than five hours of Super Bowl 59 pregame coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET, following a pair of one-hour NFL specials.

Super Bowl 59 will be broadcast nationally on Fox for the second time in the last three years. Kevin Burkhardt (play-by-play) and Tom Brady (color analyst) will be on the call from the Superdome. Sunday marks Burkhardt’s second Super Bowl in the play-by-play role, and it will be Brady’s first as a broadcaster. 

Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi will serve as the sideline reporters for Super Bowl 59, with Mike Pereira adding commentary as the broadcast’s officiating expert.

Pregame and postgame duties will be handled by Fox’s studio team hosted by Curt Menefee. Menefee will be joined by his regular panel of Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Jimmy Johnson and Rob Gronkowski in addition to insider Jay Glazer.
