The digital talk show “Black NewsBeat with Dr. Kimeka Campbell” has been selected for two awards from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.

In a post on Facebook, Campbell announced that the program has been named the Silver Award Winner winner in two categories for the Anthem Awards: Special Projects and Community Engagement in Education, Art & Culture.

This is the second year for the Anthem Awards, established by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences as an expansion of their Webby Awards to “honors the purpose & mission-driven work of people, companies and organizations worldwide,” according to their website.

“Our team is so honored to have the work of the Black NewsBeat recognized for the 2nd Annual Anthem Awards as we continue to highlight voices of change and light in Harrisburg community, the Central Pennsylvania Region and in the state!” Campbell said in the Facebook post.

“Black NewsBeat” is hosted by Campbell, and was originally created in 2020 as a segment for an online program created by Open Stage of Harrisburg. It has since expanded into its own full-length program, and is approaching its second anniversary.

The program focuses on the greater Harrisburg region, particularly the Black community and the communities of the city’s people of color. The program can be found on YouTube, and is broadcast at Open Stage with a live audience. More information can be found at the Open Stage website or the Black NewsBeat Facebook page.
