UPDATE: The Mavs won by a score of 116-105.

On Saturday afternoon, the Dallas Mavericks are playing the Houston Rockets (at home).

Anthony Davis had an excellent start to his Mavs tenure, putting up 24 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three blocks while shooting 9/13 from the field and 2/2 from the three-point range in the first half.

The 2020 NBA Champion also made history.

Via Mavs PR: “Anthony Davis finished the first half with 24 points (9-13 FG, 2-2 3FG, 4-6 FT), 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks.

He is the first player in the play-by-play era (since 1996-97) to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 blocks in a half.”

Davis came into the day with averages of 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.1 blocks per contest while shooting 52.8% from the field and 29.8% from the three-point range.

While Mavs fans have been upset about losing Luka Doncic, Davis is proving why he is still one of the best 15 players in the league.

Via Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News: “Kudos to Mavericks fans. It’s not just the fact that AAC appears full, it’s that I’ve seen or heard nothing negative directed toward Mavericks players.

It’s justifiable to be upset about the trade of Luka Doncic, but no reason whatsoever to take it out on Mavs players.”

The Mavs came into play as the eighth seed in the Western Conference with a 27-25 record in 52 games.

They will play their next game on Monday when they host the Sacramento Kings.
